What is SIP?

SIP stands for “Session Initiation Protocol”, which is the industry standard for Voice over IP (VoIP) calling. It defines the way that VoIP phones should connect to each other to signal calls, send audio, request transfers, hold a call, etc.

Almost any device that supports SIP is compatible with the MaxoTel network, though there are some minor variations in the standard that could cause issues with some devices. To check whether your device is compatible, please see ourĀ SIP Requirements. All handsets provided by MaxoTel are tested and confirmed to be fully compatible with our services.
